Review for the 2014 Outlander by wildsau.ca
Yet another positive review for the redesigned 2014 Outlander, by wildsau.ca, on 06/14/2013, at the Mitsubishi Motors Canada Press Event:
"I was in a 4-cylinder Outlander with a CVT transmission. It puts out 166 horsepower at 6000 RPM and 162 lb.ft of torque at 4200 RPM. It held its own, even on the uphills. The engine gets a touch coarse in the higher revs, but it rarely needed to soar to those RPMs. It was only on the steepest climbs that the engine felt like it was working hard. The ride was very smooth and controlled and the handling is quite good for a three-row SUV."
"We ascended to where the road ends. You simply can’t drive any further up the mountain, and very few dare to get this far. The Outlander (still the 4-cylinder CVT one) performed like a champ. It never felt out of breath, and had plenty of torque to make the climb. It soaked up the big hits as gracefully as the little ones."
"I never questioned that the Outlander was in complete control. Power always seemed to be sent to where it was needed, and though it was uncomfortable because of the terrible road, I was impressed that I never heard a single rattle or squeak from the cabin which was being tossed about the entire way up. And down."

Another positive review for the 2014 Outlander!
Examiner.com review of the 2014 Outlander from the Mitsubishi Motors Canada Press Event on 06/14/2013:
"The cockpit has gone upscale, with a more driver-centric layout for the key controls with a Piano Black surround."
"The cockpit has gone upscale, with a more driver-centric layout for the key controls with a Piano Black surround."
Unique appliques look as though carbon fiber and brushed aluminum loved each other very much and had a baby (it’s a Canadian exclusive, with U.S. models getting wood from the Icky tree).
"If it’s passing power you need, the V6 is your choice. Paddle shifters work well and are always ‘On’ when requested, which can be easily reverted back to simple Drive."
"While most of the competition has ditched the V6, it’s nice to know that the six-pot Outlander has your back, especially if you’re towing something back there, with up to 3,500 pounds towing capacity (1,500 pounds for four cylinder models)."
"The rack-and-pinion is electrified for steering assist, with a weight and feel that mimics conventional hydraulics. Rear-ward vision is excellent, even with second-row headrests in place. The four cylinder/CVT fitment had a surprising amount of pull during ever-changing elevation."
"Outlander may not be the least expensive ’ute in the segment, though you get what you pay for. Cabin NVH levels are whisper-good, plus the last thing you’ll feel in the most basic of trims is cheap. Heated front seats, exterior mirrors, plus Bluetooth connectivity, auto climate and standard alloy wheels, just to name a few."
